In accordance with Regulation (EU) No 524/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 May 2013 on online dispute resolution for consumer disputes (the Regulation), the European Commission has established an online dispute resolution platform.
Information on Online Dispute Resolution
Under the Regulation, communication for out-of-court resolution of disputes arising from obligations related to online service contracts between consumers residing in the European Union and service providers established in the European Union must be provided through this platform.
The online dispute resolution platform has been available to consumers since 15 February 2016. The Regulation directly applies to service providers established in Hungary if a consumer dispute arises concerning an online contract concluded between them and the consumer. According to the Regulation, consumers can initiate the out-of-court resolution of disputes online through the online dispute resolution platform with a jointly chosen dispute resolution body.
In Hungary, the Budapest Conciliation Board is authorized to resolve consumer disputes.
